Dr. Prema Abraham is a board-certified eye physician and surgeon specializing in the treatment of both vitreoretinal and macular diseases. In addition to providing eyecare in Rapid City, she also provides services in Pierre, SD and Gillette, WY. Dr. Abraham joined the Black Hills Regional Eye Institute in 1995 and has been the acting Medical Director since 2001.

Dr. Abraham evaluates and treats patients with retinal conditions in the Eye Institute’s Retina Center in Rapid City, which contains state-of-the-art equipment. She regularly participates in numerous clinical research trials related to diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and vein occlusions.

Dr. Abraham received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Stephens College in Columbia, MO, and her medical degree from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine. After receiving her medical degree, she completed an internship and residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine, followed by a Vitreoretinal Fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
