Dr. daSilva specializes in advanced cataract surgery, using technologies such as Femtosecond Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS) and intraoperative biometry to deliver precise outcomes to patients. As a member of the Eye Institute’s refractive team, he also performs procedures such as LASIK, PRK, and refractive lens exchange. His extensive experience in different intraocular lenses and surgical techniques helps patients reduce their dependence on corrective lenses by treating presbyopia and reducing astigmatism during cataract surgery. He has training in Microinvasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), providing options for glaucoma patients to reduce their dependence on pressure-lowering eye drops.Dr. daSilva also provides general ophthalmology eye care for the management of diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, and trauma.
Dr. daSilva is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Refractive Surgery Alliance. He has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters.
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Nebraska, Dr. daSilva went on to earn his Medical Doctorate with distinction from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, garnering both the competitive Regents Scholarship and admittance to the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. He completed his internship in general medicine at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine in Sioux Falls, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Stein Eye Institute (UCLA), one of the highest-ranked programs in the nation.
In his spare time, Dr. daSilva enjoys spending time with his wife, Laura, and their two children. He is an avid cyclist, fly fisherman, and outdoorsman.
